Co-operation with China’s biggest online retailer

Münster/Beijing, 7th February 2018. China’s online trade continues to boom. The demand from Chinese consumers for European brands is unwavering. Fiege has now signed a co-operation with China’s biggest online retailer, JD.com and has opened a flagship store on its cross-border eCommerce platform, JD Worldwide. European manufacturers can to offer their merchandise on this platform, to access the Chinese market.

Ondrej Hradec from Fiege’s eCommerce Solutions team has been in Beijing when the contracts with JD Worldwide were signed at the end of November. Hradec says: “China already has a large group of consumers that favour European products. This group has been experiencing unusually high growth rates and moreover, can tap a growing budget.” For the Chinese consumer, JD Worldwide is an important starting point in their search for European products. “By setting up the flagship on JD Worldwide we allow our customers to directly enter the world’s biggest eCommerce market”, Hradec adds.

“We look forward to our co-operation with Fiege, to bring together even more first-class European brands with JD Com’s active 266 million-strong consumer base”, said Kaisi Li, deputy CEO at JD Worldwide. “Fiege is a trustworthy partner to many of Europe’s leading brands, and their flagship store on JD.com will showcase some of Europe’s finest products.”

German products in high demand

For added convenience in cross-border retailing Fiege formed a new company, European eCommerce Services GmbH which supports its flagship on JD Worldwide. Fiege also offers supply chain services: It takes between five and ten days for European products to be delivered to the Chinese end consumer, including customs clearance. Marketing these products through market places directly in China is the next step in offering a full-service solution.

The flagship store on JD Worldwide currently supplies exclusive wines, healthcare products, foods and household items from Europe. European wines by Ihringer, Baldauf, Familie Steffen, Ruppertsberger, Hügelheim and Remstalkellerei are distributed via the online flagship platform. Other retailers already marketing their product range through Fiege on JD Worldwide include Purephylaxis, an anti-smog brand that has developed a vitamin infusion that speeds up the metabolism in the human body to offset any oxygen deficiency; as well as Helden Snacks, a food company that produces healthy snacks for children that are free from additives.
