Fiege to build new logistics centre in Peine

30,000 square metres of warehouse space to be completed by the end of 2021

Peine/Greven, 4.2.2021 – The start of construction for Fiege’s new facility in Peine, Lower Saxony, is imminent. The logistics company will begin with the construction of the 30,000 square metres-large multi-user centre in mid-February. The family-run enterprise anticipates the favourable strategic location where the A2 motorway (east-west) intersects with the A7 motorway (north-south) to further boost its business with new and existing clients in the metropolitan area of Hanover. The project partners implementing the construction project are Deka Immobilien, LIST Bau Bielefeld, and Krüger Consult GmbH.

“We acquired a 65,000 square metres-large plot of land from the city in the Peine East industrial estate and submitted the building application last year. Planning was carried out in close cooperation with the city. We would like to thank the City of Peine for the trust extended and assistance provided to us”, Jan Fiege, Managing Director Real Estate explains. Even the contracts with the project partners have been signed. “The construction of the multi-user centre will begin in mid-February”, Jan Fiege confirms.

The Greven-based logistics company made a point of incorporating its sustainability strategy in the planning of the modern facility. “LED lighting or an infrastructure that caters to electromobility make this centre particularly energy efficient”, Fiege says. The new building will thus meet German Sustainable Building Council standards and receive the respective DGNB certificate.

Next to 30,000 squares metres in warehouse space, 1,800 square metres will be dedicated to office and recreational rooms while 5,300 square metres are set to accommodate a mezzanine floor. The logistics centre can be divided into three sections to be used for different purposes.

The facility is scheduled for completion in December 2021. For the construction, Fiege is cooperating with LIST Bau Bielefeld as the general contractor, Krüger Consult as the planning office, and WestInvest Gesellschaft für Investmentfonds, an investment fund of Deka Immobilien.
