Bridgestone and Fiege celebrate 40 years of successful collaboration

Over 60 Fiege employees from Hamburg and Lahr accepted the invitation to come to Bad Homburg.

Bad Homburg, 26th June 2018. Premium tires meet premium provider: ever since Bridgestone’s entry into the European market, the tires maker has been collaborating closely with the logistics company. In Fiege, the world’s market leader of the tires and rubber industry[1] has had a reliable partner by its side for 40 years. As a leading provider of logistical services dedicated to tires, Fiege specialises in efficient supply chain solutions with a focus on contract logistics. The anniversary celebrations took place in Bad Homburg on 22nd June and were joined by the employees of all Germany-based Fiege branches and of the Bad Homburg headquarters of Bridgestone Germany.

Quality management, warehousing, seasonal tire storage and distribution – the collaboration with Fiege forms the basis for Bridgestone’s success in Europe. “For our entry into the European market, we were looking for a supply chain partner at the time whom we could entrust our premium tires with. We found this partner in Fiege, which distinguishes itself through flexibility and service”, said Stephan Rensh, Supply Chain Manager Bridgestone Central Region during the anniversary celebrations. “The long-standing partnership is defined by shared growth and joint progress. We are extremely pleased to have had Fiege by our side for 40 years now.”

Fiege stores 300,000 Bridgestone tires in Hamburg

Tire logistics, next to logistics dedicated to fashion, consumer goods and healthcare, is one of Fiege’s focus industries. Fiege stores products from different customers under the same roof at some of its multi-user locations. One example of this is the Mega Center Hamburg which, ever since it was moved into in 2006, has been handling tires and spirits. Roughly 300,000 Bridgestone tires are stored in Hamburg, with up to 20,000 tires coming in and going out daily. Staff duties even include the assembly of tires and rims as a value-added service.

Co-operation in five countries

Our 40-year long collaboration is also reflected in our success record”, explains Christian Thiemann, member of the management for tire logistics at Fiege.

The logistics provider currently works with Bridgestone in Germany, Austria, Switzerland as well as Poland and Hungary. Fiege develops integrated customer solutions within eCommerce, national and international transportation, customs clearance, and storage rounded off by numerous value-added services. Next to Hamburg, Bridgestone stores tires at the Fiege branches in Lahr (Baden Württemberg) as well as Europe-wide in the Czech Republic, in Poland, and in Hungary.
