The international non-food discounter opens logistics centre in Osła, Lower Silesia

Warsaw, 15th November 2019. The non-food discounter Action has opened its first distribution centre in Poland. Fiege will be operating the logistics centre situated in Osła, near the German-Polish border. On an area of 45,000 square metres, Fiege will be handling operations for the Dutch non-food discount store with a team of up to 400 people. At the start of November, Action – together with Fiege and further partners – celebrated the opening of the new distribution centre in the district of Gromadka. This marks Action’s next milestone two years after entering the Polish market; Fiege has been active in Poland for more than 20 years and already manages a distribution centre for Action in Biblis near Frankfurt.

“The inauguration of our DC in Osła is a further milestone of Action’s progress in Poland. Over the past two years we opened almost 50 stores, and we intend to open many more in the years to come. The DC is an investment into our presence in Poland – thanks to our partners and the support of the district of Gromadka, we will be able to create a solid base”, says Słavomir Nitek, General Manager at Action Poland. “Osła is strategically ideal for our future development and offers a good infrastructure and connection to nearby motorways”, the General Manager went on to say.

Assortment at Action outlets changes dynamically

Action’s complete product range will be stored at the new Osła-based logistics centre on more than 50,000 pallet spaces. This is a highly dynamic retail format: Action’s assortment of products includes more 6000 different articles, with 150 new articles added to the range each week. The product spectrum is comprised of 14 categories: Décor, DIY, Toys & Entertainment, Stationery & Hobby, Multimedia, Household, Garden & Outdoor, Laundry & Cleaning, Food & Beverage, Body Care, Pets, Sports, Clothes and Lingerie.

“The retail concept relies on speed and product variety. This requires an excellent logistical performance. Our experience and our know-how prepare us perfectly for this task and we look forward to continuing the collaboration with Action and to contributing to its growth story”, says Piotr Kohmann, CEO Fiege Poland.

Strong growth in Poland

Action’s growth in Poland is set to continue. Within two years of entering the market, Action opened in total 46 non-food discount stores in Poland. This year will see market no. 50 open its doors. Over 700 people are currently working for Action in Poland. “Our successful growth over the past two years not only corroborates Action’s scalable business model, but also demonstrates that consumers in Poland greatly appreciate Action’s formula for constantly surprising shoppers with a broad, ever changing assortment at the lowest possible prices and good quality”, explains Słavomir Nitek, General Manager Action Poland.
