Bremen-Hemelingen awarded Dekra certification
Greven/Bremen, 13th February 2018. The Fiege Logistik location in Bremen-Hemelingen has been awarded the ISO 22000 certification after meeting the crucial requirements for food safety management systems. ISO 22000 is the only global and certifiable standard to cross multiple stages in relation to food safety management systems. For the audits, Dekra performed spot-checks on location and evaluated how the requirements regarding management system documentation as well as the respective policies were being implemented, and whether they are effective.
Standardisation and customer requirements
“In the past, our customer audited us every three months. To ensure that nothing stands in the way of maintaining the business relationship in the long run, it goes without saying for us that the customer can expect in the least the very same level from its logistics provider as the standards laid out in ISO 22000 that its own production and warehousing are required to fulfil”, says Dieter Kühn, operations manager at the Bremen-Hemelingen branch.
This certification has strategic relevance for Göran Thälker, Head of Quality at Fiege: “Divergent customer requirements at times result especially in the field of consumer goods logistics in multiple certifications on food safety at a single location. IFS Logistics and BRC Storage and Distribution, for example, cover only certain partial aspects, whereby the regional recognition from the trade varies.” He adds: ISO 22000 is the only global and certifiable standard to cross multiple stages in relation to food safety management systems. It also contributes to a company’s inherent risk management.”
ISO 9001, 14001 and 50001 recertification for the Fiege Group
Moreover, the Fiege Group was once again able to meet the standards in fields like quality management, environmental management and energy management during a matrix certification. With so-called recertification audits in accordance with internationally-recognised standards for quality management (ISO 9001:2015); environmental management (ISO 14001:2015); and energy management (ISO 50001:2011) Dekra was especially able to positively rate the implementation of the requirements under the new ISO standards following the audits as well as the documentation on the location’s energy reports.
