84 trainees launch their professional career at Fiege Logistik

Das Fiege Mega Center in Dortmund hat zum 1. August sieben neue Auszubildende an ihrem Standort begrüßt.

Six new students of an Integrated Degree Programme will be starting in Münster, Worms and Lörrach

Greven, 7th August 2017. A new year of training has started: Over 80 trainees and students of an Integrated Degree Programme will launch their professional careers at various Germany-based branches of Fiege Logistik. Fiege trains young people in eleven different industrial and commercial trades. Roughly one fourth of the trainees aim to become management assistants in freight forwarding and logistics. But even beyond classic professions within logistics, the family business offers many exciting opportunities for job starters, such as an apprenticeship as an electronics technician for industrial systems, or an Integrated Degree Programme with a focus on IT.

Twelve refugees move from entry qualification to training

“We are especially proud of seeing a number of young refugees complete their entry qualification stage and take up an apprenticeship. In Dieburg and Bremen, for example, successful projects have already been concluded with this wonderful development”, says Martina Schlottbom, Head of Strategic HR. Fiege’s “Diversity in Motion” motto headlines all activities that aim to integrate refugees. Roughly 40 displaced persons were thus provided with a job, and a dozen of whom are undergoing training.

231 trainees in Germany

231 young people in total are currently undergoing training at Fiege – 100 in the industrial sector and 131 in the commercial sector. Also, 30 students have enrolled for an Integrated Dual Programme in logistics, either at Münster University of Applied Sciences, Worms University of Applies Sciences or at Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University in Lörrach. Six of them started only recently in August. “Five young women will gain insight into logistics for a period of three years and aim to achieve a Bachelors degree”, says Bettina Pick. 40 per cent of those studying are women, while the proportion of women undergoing training is 27 per cent. “We would love to inspire even more young women to join the logistics sector and see them start their professional training with us”, says Bettina Pick, and adds: “Next to classic supply chain professions, we have so much more to offer, such as for example apprenticeships as an IT specialist.”
