Hamburg, 11th July 2017. Fiege board member Peter Scherbel held the keynote speech at the annual conference of Logistik-Initiative Hamburg e.V. The motto of the event held at the Empire Riverside Hotel in central Hamburg in mid-June was “Creating solutions with logistics”, and focused on four different subjects: “Building Solutions”; “Intra Solutions”, “Smart Last Mile Solutions” and “Start-up Solutions”. As the keynote speaker, Peter Scherbel introduced the latest developments on the above topics at Fiege Logistik.
“In future, it will not suffice whether a customer receives an order within a day or within an hour. The essential point will be for logistics to guarantee preferred delivery date requests”, said Peter Scherbel during the “Smart Last Mile Solutions”-titled topic. Fiege has partnered with other enterprises to work out resource-friendly transport solutions for the last mile which facilitate the highest-possible flexibility in deliveries to the end customer.
Co-operation with start-ups
The relevance of co-operating with start-ups was also emphasised by other speakers during the conference. According to Scherbel, these points are crucial for Fiege: “When co-operating with start-ups, one has to take on a pro-active role to avoid being run over.” One should not fear disruption but instead, pursue it freely. Fiege has therefore teamed up with different logistics accelerators at home and abroad and entered into strategic partnerships with start-ups like Zenfulfillment.
Logistics real estate of the future
On the subject of “Building Solutions”, Peter Scherbel introduced some of FIEGE Real Estate’s projects which Fiege implemented for Pirelli, Mann+Hummerl and Landi over the past two years. Using examples to demonstrate Taking these examples, the Fiege board member showed what a space- and energy-efficient logistics property will look like in the future.
As an innovative possibility within “Intra Solutions”, Scherbel introduced amongst others the TORU order picking robot which Fiege has been advancing in co-operation with the Munich-based start-up, Magazino, at its Fashion subsidiary in Ibbenbüren, Germany. The perception-controlled robots pick shoes ordered online while working alongside humans.
