Antwerp/Muenster, March 25th, 2018. The Antwerp Management School (AMS) and the eCommerce business unit of Fiege carried out a research project during the first trimester of 2018 to explore new opportunities in cross-border eCommerce.
Students of AMS’ Master in Global Management had the opportunity to step into the shoes of Fiege and solve an existent question in the company. As an integrated assignment of their International Business and Global Strategic Management modules they investigated the product internationalization via marketplaces. For this, the students split into three teams and analyzed the opportunities and challenges of the online marketplaces in the Americas, Europe and Asia.
“The Fiege e-marketplaces project was a great learning experience for our MGM students. It was a pleasure to witness them thriving on this project that combined an entrepreneurial, ambitious company partner and a strategically demanding topic that requires understanding of operations, technology and the international business environment.” stated AMS’ Prof. Sascha Albers, who supervised the project.
To bring the theoretical knowledge together with the practical and business questions is a purpose both Fiege and the Antwerp Management School have. “It was an innovative and practical way to bring answers to some questions and confirm that our services match the market requirements and what the online sellers are looking for“ added Fátima Bittel from Fiege eCommerce in regards of the collaborative work between the institutions that both sides wish to continues. Based on the AMS project results, Fiege eCommerce will shortly publish a whitepaper about the possibilities of going international via online marketplaces.
