More fashion clients move to eCommerce branch
Brieselang, 2 October 2019. The Brieselang site located near Berlin is set to receive a long-term perspective: After taking over the logistics centre in April 2019 from Zalando – Europe’s leading online platform for fashion and lifestyle – Fiege announced it would convert the branch into a multi-user centre. This goal has now been achieved: the eCommerce business of Gerry Weber fashion label will be relocating to Brieselang in October, with the Spanish fashion group Mango joining it in mid-2020. Zalando will also retain a base at the Fiege facility in Brieselang.
“We are pleased to have convinced other clients of this location”, said Christoph Mangelmans, Managing Director Omnichannel Retail at Fiege. The Brieselang workforce were informed of these future plans last week. “This positive development will secure the continuity of the location beyond the middle of 2020. It was our declared and shared goal with Zalando to achieve this for our fantastic colleagues in Brieselang.”
Zalando had outgrown the Brieselang logistics centre, which despite its 75,000 square metres of warehouse space in the end could store only a small share of the fashion retailer’s product range. Brieselang has a current workforce of 1,000, a large number of whom can now enjoy job security beyond the middle of 2020.
“The new business allows our well attuned and experienced team to continue working together and I very much look forward to the new challenges”, replied the branch manager Robert Fix, who joined Fiege together with his colleagues from Zalando. “New clients automatically bring with them new process flows and an increased level of complexity”, is how Christoph Mangelmans described the imminent tasks the location will be tackling. “Our goal is to add even more clients to the multi-user facility and to develop Brieselang further.”
